Seeker of Secrets - Boon Companion

I downloaded the Seeker of Secrets from www.d20pfsrd.com, and found that the Boon Companion isn't working properly. I took Arcane Bloodline for my Sorcerer, but the feat doesn't recognize that I have a familiar, nor does the familiar improve when I take the feat and select sorcerer. The familiar does improve when I select levels in sorcerer.

Boon Companion is only for a character with multiple class levels. Because you don't list that this is the case I'm not sure you're using it right. You cannot take BC and hope that it increases your familiar or Animal Companion to +4 levels automatically.
I have a 4th level fighter and a 1st level Cavalier. I took BC and it allowed me to take a 5th level wolf (I'm a gnome).
I coded Seeker of Secrets, and got help with BC from Mathias, but that in no means it's correct, so it could be wrong - but I/We need a little more info on your situation to see if the feat is being utilized correctly.

Hello Theocrat, is that interpretation confirmed by anyone from Paizo?
I have a level 5 ranger who uses the feat so that his animal companion is designed as if his druid's effective level was 5, not 2. I might be doing it wrong, though...

Well, from your class choices, I am not certain that Adept 1 would allow you to 'qualify' for the feat only because it's an NPC class. I can't say for sure, but I always thought NPC Classes as like a half to at best a 3/4 class. But don't take my word for it! Try HL as a test with a different non-NPC class for BC and see if it works.

I subscribe to your method of thinking on this. I have made posts on the Paizo forum about the same question but never got a answer. I would also think it would apply to a single level druid or cleric who takes the animal domain gaining a companion at level 4, then at level 5 taking boon companion and bingo same level companion.

Your bond with your animal companion or familiar is unusually close.

Prerequisites: Animal companion or familiar class ability.

Benefit: The abilities of your animal companion or familiar are calculated as though your class were four levels higher, to a maximum bonus equal to your character level. If you have more than one animal companion or familiar, choose one to receive this benefit. If you lose or dismiss an animal companion or familiar, you may apply this feat to the replacement creature.

Special: You may select this feat more than once. The effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a different animal companion or familiar.

I'm not pulling the familair from adept, I'm pulling it from Sorcerer, with the Arcane bloodline. Adept doesn't even show up as an eligible choice, only cleric and sorcerer.

I'll play around with the feat when I get home tonight and report back.

I believe it is very clear that it can be taken by a single class with animal companion, but if that player does not also have other levels in other (non-animal companion) classes it would be pointless.

A 10th level Druid would gain no benefit, since his character level is 10 and max of 10 of (10 + 4) is 10.

A 5th Druid/5th Rogue would have a Druid 9th AC.

I understand a Ranger is calculated as half his levels? If so, a 10th Ranger normally has 5th Druid AC, but with this would have a 9th Druid AC.

No, ranger gets an AC at level -3. So a ranger 10 would normally have a 7th druid AC, a 10th druid AC with the feat.

Alright, I've had some time to play with the Boon Companion, and there is definitely something buggy with it. First, I made a druid 6 with an ape companion, and got 42 hp and 19 ac for the companion "quick stats" that appear on the right hand side of the screen. Then, I dropped 4 levels of druid, and replaced it with 4 levels of fighter. I then selected boon companion, and selected druid. 42 hp, 19 ac. GTG. Here's where it starts to get interesting. If I select fighter for boon companion, I get 28 hp and 17 ac. Its as if Boon Companion is using 1/2 of the fighter levels to add to the druid companion. It does the same if I select Boon Companion (Druid), and then delete two levels in fighter.

So now I go back towards my original build, creating a new character and replacing the six levels of druid with six levels of sorcerer. I chose the arcane bloodline, and selected a cat familiar. I get 25 hp and an AC of 17 for the familiar. So, I deleted 4 of the levels of sorcerer (getting 9 hp, and an AC of 15 for the cat). Now I add 4 levels in fighter, and the familiar stats change to show the new hp. I now have 29 hp and AC 15. I select Boon Companion and am told that I can't take it, since I don't have an animal companion. Thing is, the feat in the book says I can take it if I have a familiar or a companion. One more thing to try...

I take wizard 6, cat familiar again, and get 13 hp, ac 17. Now I drop 4 levels of wizard, replace it with 4 levels of fighter, and get hp 17, ac 15 on the familiar.

Now, I understand the whole hp thing. The familiar's hp are half of the caster's hp, no matter what. Easy peasy. My problems are thus:

1. Boon Companion isn't acknowledging a familiar, only the animal companion. In the defense of the programmer, the feat says as much in the warning message when I take it. But, the feat in Seekers of Secrets says that it should apply to familiars as well. It appears to be working properly for druids but not for sorcerers or wizards.
