Is there a way to search and replace text in a string?

Is there a list of built in functions? Like compare() doneif() etc?
 
Text searches should be avoided if at all possible - you shouldn't trust everyone out there to enter data in the same format as what already exists.

What are you trying to accomplish? There may be a better way.
