Just doing a followup on the status of the Reign of Blood Data Files for
Cardvault.

Last I heard AEG had not provided a spoiler for the set and wanted to know
if such was all that is holding that up. I can provide a spoiler with
everything except a few missing Flavor Text entries in excel right now. I
can probably have the flavor done by EOB friday, if you'd prefer.

I would like to comment on the status of the promotional cards that were
released during RoB:

I don't feel that promotional cards should be embedded into the data files
for a basic set or expansion, regardless of how they were printed. Promos
are promos based on the method of distribution and should be maintained on
the promo database with notes of delivery method in the card notes. That way
one doens't have to know what set a promotional was released in conjunction
with to be able to find it via filter. You just select the promo episode and
voila!

For what it's worth, my opinion is quite to the contrary. In the first
place, 'promo' is a rarity and, as such, is just as easy to filter. In
the second, you have a lot of promos that are clearly labelled as part
of one determined expansion. Point in case, the 'Ruby of Iuchiban (Exp)'
and 'Blade of Thorns). Not only they are the promo that comes with every
'Reign of Blood' booster display box and the pre-release tournament
price respectively; it is marked 'RoB' right in the copyright line. It's
not the case with all of them, but when the info is this clear, I see no
reason to hide it. Third (and final) in some cases it's important for
the MRP thing. Some promos (for instance 'Armor of Earth', or
'Enlightenment') are the most recent version of a card, and they need to
have a clear place as such in the sets hierarchy so that the duplicate
merging process works properly.

In short, dumping all promos in a generic 'promo' episode doesn't get
you nothing, can be misleading, and can interfere with the proper
working of CV. Whenever possible, they should get associated to an
existing episode (like RoB in the instances above), or get thier own
episode if they can be placed with any accuracy (like the 'Clan Rivals'
episode I proposed a few days ago).

Just my opinion,
