rise of the runelord requirements for traits

So I want to add one of the rise of the runelords traits to my character.
I have rise of the runelords anniversay edition selected in my character configuration for available materials... the traits show up but not as "avialble".. you know.. greyed out.

When I select one of those and add it regardless, I get the red mark over feats tab, and it is complaining that I am missing pre-requisites for the trait (Goblin Watcher). The prereq is claming that I am missing the required background.. "Rise of the Runelords"

Ok.. but how do I add that? I can't seem to find an option for it.

Thanks much

I'm sorry, but I can't reproduce this. I made sure that Rise of the Runelords was turned on in the configure hero settings, and then on the Feats tab, selected the Goblin Watcher trait, and did not receive any error messages.

wait... let me do that again.. I'm not sure I saved it before uploading

In the Ultimate Campaign section, you've turned on the "Traits & Drawbacks Require a Background" option. Turning on that option effectively makes ALL campaign traits invalid, because there are no campaign traits listed in Ultimate Campaign as being connected to a background.

It sounds like your GM isn't using that rule, and is allowing you to choose backgrounds other than those connected to your traits, so you probably want to change that setting.

Honestly, it would be great to have a setting where any traits that AREN'T in ultimate campaign are considered okay for any background at all, thus allowing a GM to use the "Traits require background" rule, but not be limited only to the traits in UC.
