Ring of Force Shield doesn't show addition to AC

I'm not sure if this a bug or not, but I have a Bloodrager (Blood Conduit archetype) who has Shield Proficiency, +2 Mitral Chain Shirt, +1 Ring of Protection (and other stuff that shouldn't conflict), and added a Ring of Force Shield. I equipped the ring but it doesn't show up in my AC. Why? I do have another character who has the same ring and it works fine in Hero Lab.

There is a note in the description that explains how to gain the bonus. It has to be activated on the in-play tab. Just because you have the ring on doesn't mean you have the force shield active.

Yes, I saw that and assumed that meant something different. Once I put that in play, all was good. Sorry.

No need to apologize. The very fact that we put a note indicates you aren't alone in having expected equipping the item to automatically apply the bonus. Can I ask how the note could have been made clearer for yourself and future folks?

Hmmm...that's a great question, since I obviously figured it out for my other character at one time.

I guess I got so used to Hero Lab simply putting the effects into play on any other magic items I've added, that I assumed it would work the same way with that ring. When I saw that note, I thought it was meant for those using Hero Lab at a gaming table, so the AC bonus could be active.

I'm not sure what else you might say to dumb it down for people like me who expect instant gratification!:p

The Ring of Force Shield can be activated and deactivated (would be awkward to not be able to pick stuff up without hitting it with your invisible shield all the time, so it should not be enabled unless activated (the in-play checkbox). There are plenty of other items that are continuous (like your ring of protection), meaning as soon as it is worn, it's effects apply. Those have no in-play checkbox.

Yeah, I realized this as I was trying to fall asleep last night. Doh!

Some great roleplay situations right could arise though! Possible new entries in the history books.
