Replacing maps

I'm in a bit of a pickle concerning the smart maps. I've been adding pins, and writing in pin descriptions and generally been having a good time.

However, now I've made a change to the map outside of Realm Works, adding some details. And there doesn't seem to be a way to update the smart map. It seems the only way is to make a new smart map, and then add all the pins again manually. And I'd rather not have to do that every time I update my map.

So I'd like if it was possible to replace the image part of a smart image, with another image of the same size. Keep the pins in the same positions on the new image.

Being able to replace the image with one of a different size would also be useful in the future. Sure, in that case I'd probably have to drag the pins around to their correct places, but I still wouldn't have to add all the text and links again.

I don't have time to search for this now but check the other forum, this question was asked and answered. IIRC, I believe you can just delete the map from RW and replace the map with the updated version and the pins would remain.

I presume this only happens if the image is saved in the original format and image size? If you can save the pins and have them show up on a different sized original, I'd be amazed.

I believe that was the presumed prereq, yes. :) I'd be equally amazed otherwise.

It wouldn't be that hard to support different image sizes and dimensions. If RW detected a different resolution/dimensions, it could simply ask you to position the overlay onto the map where it belonged and drag a corner to scale it to the new image. It doesn't do this currently, but it easily could. Not, as they say, rocket science.

Pins and reveal masks are preserved when you clear the image and then load a new image.

This works properly when the image is the same size.

The pins remain at the same (X,Y) coordinates if the image is a different size, so you will need to move the pins to their correct position.

This may not be as easy as you might think. When you replace the image, we throw away the original. When you load the new image in, we don't have any preserved knowledge of how big the old image was at that point. This means we would have to preserve that information in some fashion (doable) which means more work than just what you outline.
