Repeating Crossbow unequipped stats

I understand that the repeating crossbow can be used in two, one, or both hands, however it would seem to me that the stats should default to two hands as apposed to one or wielding two of them (one in each hand). However it seems to currently default (when not equped) to wielding one handed in the primary hand. This while perhaps technically the only way to avoid a exception situation, still seems odd or wrong. The concern is for character sheets and summary prints, especially for DMs who may forget that if wielded in both hands they need to add +4 back on to the stats. Can this be fixed, or is it a technical (because of the unique exception of the weapon) limitation?
