Rename "Change View Assignment"

The menu option "Change View Assignment" is misleading.

When I saw this label, I assumed it meant that I could only tick one of the entries in the sub-menu, since choosing a different entry would "change" the selected view to the newly selected view.

(The popup dialogue was really tedious to use just to assign the topic to more than one view.)

A simple name of "Assigned to Views" would make the sub-menu more understandable.

Check boxes are by definition "choose one or more".

I do agree, though, that having the popup dialogue disappear when you select one item is tedious. I'd like it to stay, so I can select multiple items without having to go through the mouse menus all over again for each one.

Then I recommend you try the option immediately beneath it entitled "Manage View Assignments". It lets you do exactly what you're asking for. The first option is for quickly toggling assignment to a single view, while the latter is for assigning a topic to multiple views in one go via a dialog that stays up until you're finished. :)

I think some misunderstand.

The menu option says "Change View Assignment", so I thought it would only allow the topic in one view.

What it actually does is to allow you to toggle the topic being visible in each of the views, so that the submenu could end up with more than one view ticked.

It does MORE than it says on the tin, so the wording should be changed to reflect what it actually does :-)

No check boxes appear in the sub-menu.
As you posted earlier they're check menu items; the checks only appear if the Topic/Article is assigned to a view.

If they'd intended for you to only pick one it'd have a radio button-style mark instead of a check.

Personally, I'd just say "Views" or "(Topic/Article) Views". That's how the parent of check and radio selection submenus tend to be named in other applications. It's an easy one to learn, though.

Parody, pick one can still be shown as a tick - not all UIs use radio buttons instead.

All I'm saying is that the "Change View Assignment" label implies that only one option can be selected in the sub-menul - and implies that in your picture if I selected Background then the Story would get unselected.

Fun fact: Rob is like a wolf in that he can eat a quarter of his body weight in a single sitting. You should have seen him after GenCon last year!

While I haven't seen Rob in person since the last GAMA trade show he was at, I was always amazed by his energy level. I still remember day two or three of the show when we started chatting about RW in the alpha stage. The notes taken were fast and furious as we bounced around the idea and what you would want and could do with it.
