Ranger - Animal Companion - not working

Hi,
I have trouble assigning an animal companion to my 4th level ranger. I assigned the animal companion hunters bond but when I try to configure the companion no race is available.
I tried to use the toolkit to copy "Ape" and made that race available for rangers as an ac but even that race did not show up on the races pulldown.
What am I doing wrong?
 
On the ranger tab there should be a blue button in the upper left that says something like animal companion. if you click on that it will make the animal compaion the Active character. you can then do any changes to it you want.
 
In the Configure Hero settings, did you select "Don't Restrict Companion Race"? That settings's currently broken.

You can check by going to the Character menu...Configure Hero, and opening the settings.

Hmm..perhaps I missunderstood you, but I went to Configure Hero and checked the "Don't Restrict Companion Race" box and saved and exited.
Now I can´t find my 4 the level Ranger anymore. Have I deleted him by mistake?

Well, not really deleted him; the file is there, but now he´s just zero level nothing. It´s like the information is wiped. Strange.
