Ranged Attack into Melee

So, I'm fighting against a slave trader, and my druid companion decides to use his sling staff to attack. Is there a way to apply the requisite bonuses and penalties for this in Hero Lab? He lacks the feat needed to fire into melee without taking a penalty . . .

Thanks in advance!

Go to the "Adjust" tab and then click on "Other Adjustments" and then add the "Attack Bonus (Ranged)" adjustment. Set the adjustment to -4 and change the (Source) wording to "Fire into Melee" or something. When done just uncheck it instead of removing it so you can activate it again later if you need to.

The DM should be applying the +4 to AC that the creature is also getting do to cover.

Personally as a DM I learned it was always easier to just add +8 to the creatures AC then have the players try and subtract. Some how it just took three times as long. :)

Awesome. Thank you so much for the tip. I'm still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles of HL and it didn't make sense that this couldn't be done.

Happy gaming!
