Question Regarding Licensing

Greetings all :)

Just purchased HL-Pathfinder (Rulebook Path) and am running it on my main PC as well as my Surface Pro 4.

I am planning on picking up the Ultimate Equipment and Unchained this weekend since I just started playing in Pathfinder Society and those are the books we used to create my first character (Unchained Rogue) and just need to know if I can install them on BOTH devices or would I have to purchase 2 licenses for each.

Thanks!

Jim Hale

One purchase is all. Your secondary license gets access to all the books your main license gets. :)

Just make sure each of your devices has its own unique license. Then after purchasing simply Reactivate your license.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Herolab :)

You're good. :) Any supplements you purchase are available on all your licenses. You'll have them available on both the PC and Surface Pro.

I happen to have it on 2PCs, a Laptop and my iPad mini.

Great! Thank you very much. :)

Another quick question. Do I need to have internet access to validate licenses when I use the products? i.e. Sometimes when I play there's no (believe it or not) any wireless and my Surface doesn't have a cell connection.

You need an internet connection to validate your license, but you only need to do it once after each purchase, so you can do it at home before you go to play. as long as you do not purchase anything else, you should be OK (so no periodic routine re-validation required).

There may be corner cases when a reactivation is required outside of purchases, but can't think of one right now.

Another tip: do NOT update PF files with a version that just came out if you have a game within the next 48 hours. LW are very good at correcting bugs quickly, but the process is slower during the week-end and we have seen many instances of players frantically looking for bug resolutions because the portfolio they needed for their upcoming game was suddenly faulty in some way.

Perfect - Thank you. :)

Just didn't want to be in the middle of a game and then have the program popup saying that it needed to validate the license and couldn't.

That should never happen. Be aware, though, that there have been many discussions in the past few months about the Windows 10 fast track program causing difficulties*. If this applies to your situation, make sure HL is functional before going to your game.

(* Most difficulties reported, however, are related to license re-assignation, which is different from licence reactivation and can only be done, normally, every 120 days)
