Since this version covers part of the Runner's Companion does it cover buying a group during character building?
I was looking over the contact section and didn't see it as an option.

Magical Groups are in the "Memberships" table, also on the Social tab, Group Contacts are in the same list as the regular contacts - just keep scrolling down. If by "group" you meant Factions, they're also on the Social tab, in the "Faction Relationships" table.
