Ptolus Background Bonuses

During character creation in Monte Cook's Ptolus campaign setting, players can choose a background from a list that gives the characters a small bonus to certain skills. For instance, choosing Artisan’s Apprentice gives you a +2 to a craft skill of your choice, while a stablehand gives you a +2 to Handle Animal. What would be the simplest way to implement this in HL?

Why not make a template that they can choose that will give them the bonus? Make the templates "backgrounds" or give them specific names like "Adventurer Background" and then just apply them to the character?

Arthurrw is correct - this would be the easiest way to implement this in
HL right now. Alternatively you could make them feats, and give every
character a bonus feat; you could also just use the adjustments on the
In-Play tab to add the changes from the background.
