Rob or anyone...

Has anyone ever been working on data or definition files and had all
items become unselectable universally? I had no explicit attributes
set on any items or units to prohibit or direct selection. I have
now tried explicitly granting permission for a unit (spec attribute)
and an item (lglx, itst attribute) to be available, but still
nothing is selectable. I receive the message "regiment 'foo' cannot
currently be given any artifacts" -artifacts being an item catagory.

It was all working fine and then I am sure I did something.
Incidentally could changing a definition file on the fly, and not
newly bringing in text versions of datafiles abdata.exe cause this
issue?

Thanks,

Woody

Try the following:

* Make sure the unit you're testing can take more than 0 items.
* Make sure the unit has access to the item category - make sure it's got
the spec:+whatever attribute, and that the race record allows you to take
that category.
* Make sure the item category is actually available to be selected.
* Make sure the unit's unit id doesn't start with x.

Those are all the most common reasons for items to be unavailable...
