Please help me make this: Translator's Ring

Translator's Ring: This ring grants the wearer the ability to understand two specific languages in addition to those she already knows. If the character wearing the ring is literate, she also gains literacy in the new languages as long as she wears the ring.

Faint divination; CL 1; Forge Ring, comprehend languages; Price: 400 gp

Essentially the ring just gives two free ranks in Linguistics, but I'm terrible with the item editor, and have no idea how to go about creating this magic item.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Can you think of any feats that grant you more language slots?

How does it apply its bonus?

(APG, pg 156)

So I should have the ring grant the Feat Cosmopolitan as a free bonus feat? I was thinking just have it add two ranks in Linguistics, is that possible?

I think what Mathias was getting at is that you can look at how other things script bonuses and use that as a template for your item. If you just want to add to a skill with an item, think of other items that do that. Perhaps the Boots of Elvenkind. You can do new (copy) for that item, take a look at the script then use it as a basis for your ring. Or if you are looking to add a pair of languages, you can use the script from Cosmopolitan. Another useful tool is too right-click on the skill in question, and select "Show Debug Fields". This will show you various fields that you can modify (such as skRanks).
