I'm thinking of putting some Army Builder files together for the
Piquet system, I wondered if any one else had tried this or had any
thoughts?

Thanks,

Chris Abbey

Have not seen it attempted. I would DEFINITELY be interested in seeing
some. Particularly for Cartouche and Band of Brothers.

Hi Eric,

I was confused by this page on the Armybuilder website
http://www.wolflair.com/static/historical.htm

That had a Piquet logo on it, which made me think that someone was
already working on it.

My initial thoughts were to have 'units' as something pretty generic
like Infantry, Light Infantry, Medium Cavalry etc.

And then have options for Training eg. Militia, Regular, Elite etc.
and Weapons eg. Bayonet, Musket, Lance etc.

This would give you ups and downs from BDV.

This would be about the scope of first stage Piquet data files. I'd
then have to make an enhancment request to Lone Wolf to see if they
could add some functionality to 'roll' BDV values and apply modifiers
to dice progressions to display the actual dice in the stats lines as
a stage 2 data file.

Well, that logo is there because I have tried many times to contact the
people who created Piquet about doing data files and they have yet to
respond to a single inquiry. Heck, they haven't even responded to my
inquiries about BUYING a copy of the product. :-( If you're interested in
writing the files, by all means please do so.

AB doesn't have the ability to generate random numbers for you. This was
intentional because the randomization is something that would be difficult
(if even possible) to control the validity of during roster construction
(e.g. someone could create multiple rosters until he got a set of random
values that he liked). However, if you know the range of a particular
value, you can use the "rang" option attribute to let the user specify the
rolled value. You can then base other actions in the data files upon the
value selected. AB also includes the "xlat" option attribute, which allows
you to based the effects on a lookup-table such as a dice roll. Most
likely, AB should enable you to do everything except for the actual
randomization.

Since I haven't been able to get a copy of the game, I don't know if there
are any facets of Piquet that AB can't currently support. Please let me
know if you run into any so that I can strive to add the functionality to a
new update this Summer.

Thanks, Rob
