Can anyone recommend one of the PDF-to-text rippers as being
better than the others? I suddenly find myself with a PDF spoiler list, at
least a month earlier than I was expecting...

Mark.

Scientists have shown that the moon is moving away at a tiny yet
measurable distance from the earth every year. If you do the math, you
can calculate that 85 million years ago the moon was orbiting the earth
at a distance of about 35 feet. This would explain the death of the
dinosaurs. Well, the tall ones, anyway. -- Unknown

I just copied and pasted into Word.

Hmm. I suppose that would work, but it seems so
labor-intensive. I'll give a couple of the rippers a try - I have to do
this four (five, including BoHD) more times, after all - and see if I can
get a good result that way.

All you have to do is go to edit, select all. Then press Ctrl + C to copy. Open your program, Word or whatever, and press Ctrl + V to paste.

If you identify a good one, please let me know which one it is, too. I'll
likely have need for one in the near future. :-) Sorry I can't be any help
in pointing you at any good solutions, though.

Thanks, Rob

I used pdftotext that came with RedHat Linux. I ended up with a whole
host of spacing problems which I ended up writing a program to clean up (and
then hand reviewed). My biggest problem were fields that ended up being
wrapped (the extra portion ended up being on a line by themselves after the
rest of the data).

Rob, As I mentioned before, I have the full version of Acrobat. All I
have to do is load the document and save it as an rtf file.
For now, I'm more than happy to assist in any conversions.

That must be something that Adobe added in Acrobat 5. I've got the full
Acrobat 4 and no such option exists. I'll happily take you up on your offer
to convert stuff for me in the future. If it turns out I need to convert
stuff regularly, I'll pick up the latest version of Acrobat. But for now, I
have no need for it other than ripping the contents from a PDF file once in
a great while. :-)

Thanks for the offer to help!

Yes, that is an option added in 5.0 I missed his original post or I would've explained earlier.
