PDF output for e-Reader

Hi All,

I just got an e-reader for Xmas. I just realized that I can output my army lists to the e-reader!!!! This is quite cool.

I have the Sony PRS-300, which is one of the smallest e-readers. So, if I just go with the default .pdf settings, I have to turn the screen sideways to really view it. I look and there are some editing options for it. I don't have the slightest idea of what to change or set it to. Does anyone?

I did have one weird thing on my first test (and only test). My first page only has the first line and the rest is blank. The rest of the pages are fine.

I am sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum for this! I thought it might be discussion and not tech support.

Hi,

I'm not sure why your reader displays the first page blank - you could try submitting the PDF to the reader's customer support, and asking why it doesn't display properly? As far as I know our PDFs display normally in regular PDF readers, so it's likely a bug within their PDF rendering code (especially if the second and further pages are normal).

You can change the paper size on the Print Setup form, but currently we don't show anything smaller than Letter size. I'm not sure if we can add a smaller size there that you could use; I'll put this on the to-do list as something to investigate for a future version.

Hope this helps!

I also got an e-reader for Christmas. I actually got the Amazon Kindle and have the exact same issue. The first page of the army rosters never show except for the headers and footers. I have tried loading several other PDFs, some of which have very complex artwork for the first page and some that simply have plain text, all which have worked. I will try working with the Kindle support to see if there is anything that can be done.

Hopefully a solution crops up.

Thanks frawd - let me know if Kindle support has any questions for us about how the PDFs are generated. I tried to work with them a few years ago, but they required that I actually buy a Kindle to talk to technical support at all. :(

Well, it took me a while, but I did find the dimensions for my PRS-300

# Display: 5 inch.
# Resolution: 600 x 800 pixels
# Dimensions LxWxD (Approx.): 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 x 13/32 inches (Approx. 159x108x10 mm)

I just found out the optimal size for my Sony e-reader (the PRS-300). The best pdf size to use on my tiny screen is:

Width: 3.47 Inches
Height: 4.54 Inches

I'd LOVE for Army Builder to output this size!

Thanks for all the help.

I have the same blank first page issue on my Viewsonic gTablet (Android 2.2) What's odd is if I upload the pdf to Google Docs and open it in my web browser it displays perfectly. If I download the same file to the tablet I get the blank first page. I was running Adobe Reader 9.0.2, but I upgraded to Reader X, the latest and greatest.

I'm still banging away at this issue, I'll let you know if I run across anything.

Did you try the Mobile output? It spits out an html file that can be viewed in a browser. I have done that with my Nook Color and it works fairly well.

I tried the mobile output and it works fine. The problem was that I only got the unit summaries, not the details. I looked, but if there is a way to modify the output to show unit details I missed it.

Hey, I'm finding the same problem in my new Kindle.

Outputting a normal list summary and each page seems to cut off where the little stickman appears in the unit description. When I output to a mobile summary and there is no stick man it's fine.

Is there any way to turn the stickman off in the output?
