Paypal Payments

Hi All,

I was just wondering if it will be possible to pay with paypal any time soon, since I don't have a creditcard. The site says that "PayPal has established a reputation for being very difficult to deal with when something goes wrong with a transaction. " But this is there for over 2 or 3 years! A lot has changed with paypal, and I completely disagree with the reputation you claim paypal to have.

Furthermore you state that you can buy it from a local retailer, but like 7 out of 10 retailers on your website do not exist anymore...

Regards,

Arjan

PayPal has cleaned up their act significantly in recent years. However, at the time we setup all of our payment handling, they had a poor track record. At this point, we would need to spend the time to go back in and overhaul the ordering system to support PayPal. That's a healthy amount of work that is competing against everything else on our todo list. For the near term, I don't see us adding PayPal support. But we plan on switching to a new credit card processor later this year, at which point it would make sense to add support for PayPal. I just can't commit to when that's going to be, since there are other things on our todo list that are higher priority right now.

The retailers listed on our website are those who have contacted us and asked to be listed. We did a purge of retailers from our list that had gone out of business early in 2008. Sadly, a great many more retailers failed during 2008 due to the shift in the economy. Those retailers don't contact us to have themselves removed, so we have to spend the time to go through them all, one at a time, and verify they still exist. That's a lot of time, and it's on that same todo list with getting PayPal support added, upgrading AB, enhancing HL, etc.
