Pathfinder Basic Character Sheet

All I want is the default Pathfinder character sheet.

People say that Armidale's sheet is what I want, but that's totally disregarding what I'm asking for.

I want every sheet for every character to output as a basic Pathfinder sheet. I want every skill in the game to show up in the skill column, regardless of whether the character has points in it or even if it's a class skill. I want the spell columns to show up on a fighter's sheet. And, importantly, I want it to take up only the two sheets, not bleed out into three or more.

I'm not sure why the default sheet isn't the default option, but surely someone out there has rectified this? If not, is there someone with the coding abilities and time to put this together?

Bellicose indeed. :)

Ok... I'll bite on this, since I'm in the middle of adding support for the standard Pathfinder (and PFS) sheet style to my custom sheet.

I understand what you want, but if you could give some insight into why you want it, it would help me create something that is most useful to the most people.

For example: I was intending to not show the spell column on the sheet of non-spellcasters, since it's a waste of space for them. I could certainly make it an option to keep the spell column even for non-spellcasters -- knowing why users want something helps me make that kind of judgment call.

Another example: You don't want the sheet to bleed into three or more pages. That means that excess gear has to be dropped from the sheet... I can either silently throw gear away, or give the user the choice of what gear to hide to make everything fit onto the page. (Based on user input so far, I expect to take the later approach.)

It would be fantastic if you could do this.

As for why, there are a few reasons:

-Standardization. I can't tell you how much I hate having different layouts for characters made for use in the same game, even if the layouts are very similar.

-In-game ease. Every once in a while, you'll have some kind of (often GM-generated) curveball and suddenly your martial class has a bunch of spells to write down.

-Multiclassing. If you take a level in a new class, it's preferable to not have your sheet change dramatically.

-Sharing. If you're sharing a large number of characters, it's better if people don't have to acquaint themselves with the peculiarities of each particular character sheet in addition to the character itself.

Or maybe it's just OCD. Also an option.

As for things like equipment bleeding onto additional sheets, there are possibilities for limiting that, at least. I understand that at some point, you're going to have to go onto another page if you're extremely overloaded -- but just (I say "just" because I don't know how ridiculous the coding would be) make the text and spacing smaller. Until you hit the limits of readability, anyway. I've played wizards to 20 and not run out of space on the spells known list just by writing small and carefully.

In any case, you would have my undying appreciation if you managed to make a sheet that looks exactly like the Pathfinder default for every character, and managed to keep it on the two pages.

Yeah, it's probably OCD.

Stuff......

Yeah, it's probably OCD.

No it isn't, I'd also like this option.

I use the default printed HL sheet because it's available, everyone in my group uses my system to create the characters and it installs by default anyway.

However a standard Pathfinder sheet that was just a plain duplicate of the Paizo standard PDF would be a boon for the reasons stated by BellicoseBreakfast!

Regardless of Class / Options used then every player would have the same visual sheet and cues for reference whilst around the gaming table.

Fair enough reasons, and I'm willing to put some effort into precision because I know you're not the only player who cares about it.

But, since you emphasized "exactly", I think I should set expectations for you and any others who want a perfect replica of the standard sheet.

1) Perfect replication of the standard sheet is not possible.... with a browser-based solution, that is. They didn't develop that sheet with a web browser, they developed it with a commercial page-layout tool. In order to achieve platform independence, browsers just don't give us that degree of control. We can get "pretty close" but that's all. (I could go into technical details, but I suspect no one really cares.)

2) Hero Lab puts limits on us... It's a great tool, but some information just isn't available for custom sheets to use.

3) Some character types don't map well to the standard sheet, so compromises have to be made... for example a multiclassed cleric/wizard. Which class shows up in the spell table?

4) I release updates to my sheet in iterations... so be prepared to take a look at it and ask for specific changes.

5) A main goal of my custom sheet is to be customizable... so don't be surprised if you have to click a checkbox or two.

6) And finally... no promises.

Now who's OCD? :D
