paladin mount HD off?

Ok so I have a 9th level paladin made in Hero lab shining knight archetype, when I pick paladin mount as my divine bond it only creates it with 8HD even though im 9th level. Also it is a horse not a heavy horse, if there a way to add the heavy horse template?

This is all correct. A Paladin with a mount for his/her bond use the druid chart for animal companion and the sub rules for horse within that section.

You can add the Advanced Creature - Animal template in the Classes tab and increase the damage dice for the hooves using the Other Adjustments feature (Weapon Damage Bonus) to create a heavy horse.

Well Hero Lab does allow this, note that the horse is correct as coded per PFRPG rules. Animal Companions follow their own rules and advancement and are not directly related to anything fromt he Bestiary. The horse already advanced in HD, STR, and damage on the chart as it exists now.

On the Animal Companion table on pg 52 of the PH, compare the first column, "Class Level" to the second column, "HD" - they're not the same.

No worries, as we have all been there. ;) the main thing to keep in mind is that the animal companions get what is on that chart or on the specific section under the animal name stating what is given at level one and then 4/7 upgrade. Trying to compare them to the bestiary is going to be off as they are not the same as a normal animal.

A tiny bit off topic, is there any way to automatically have the Divine Grace bonus added to the mount when the Shining Knight archetype paladin is listed as mounted on said mount? It doesn't seem to do this right now.
