Paladin Divine Bond (weapon)

The Monkfish

New member
At the moment whenever I activate Divine Bond I have to edit the bonded weapon to add whichever ability I intend using then if there is any enhancements left i.e. Flaming Burst uses +2 I have to add +1 using the adjust tab - other adjustments (I realise I could add +1 whilst editing it, but I'd forget to remove it afterwards).

So my questions/queries are - Is there a simpler way? Will Hero lab eventually bring out a Divine Bond option?

My suggestion is have a tick box (by the equip weapon tick box) to activate Divine Bond, then a previously greyed out drop down menu is available with a list of valid bonuses (which automatically give the difference in bonuses to your hit/damage roll) and also has the option of no ability enhancement just the weapon enhancement to hit/damage (+1 to +6 depending on level).

I also want the moon on a stick as well, but here's living in hope.

You could create the adjustment for everythingt and just select it when you use the bond weapon. so just 1 click gives you everything you need.

As far as I can see the adjustment option only allows me to alter the damage/hit bonus i.e. +1, +2, +3 etc. and not to select axiomatic or flaming burst or any of the other 8 weapon enhancements. The only way I can do this is by editing the weapon, selecting Special Ability and selecting one of the Divine Bond allowed enhancements, then when Divine Bond ends editing the weapon again to remove any enhancements.
Am I missing something obvious?

I am having exactly the same dilemma as The Monkfish. And as with Monkish, the workaround suggested does not seem possible with a single click.

With the number of options that can be taken it can't currently be done with a single click. Not including the shear number of "check" marks that would have to be displayed on "In-Play" tab.

If you use the same enhancement all the time then just add a second weapon to your character that is all setup. Then just drop it to the ground so it does not cost any weight. Then just switch to that weapon when you use divine bond.

This is what I did for my Paladin. Basically I created a version for each + level so I can remember, for instance, Speed is a +3 bonus. They are all on a +1 base weapon (same as my base +1 keen longsword not shown). If I use a Divine bonus to add a +1 (say, +1 & Holy added) I just click the edit weapon and change the mod if needed (or remember).

I've also done the same thing for my Bane weapon so I can choose it when actually fighting Undead.

Lastly, I created custom containers to put the weapons in so I have reminders I don't "Own" those weapons and what they are for. I believe I used "Custom Location" so Herolab removes them from Encumbrance.

Thanks Jamz/ShadowChemosh - some solid advice, which I will adopt pronto.

Jamz - I did not even consider that Custom Location tab. Very Interesting.
