Owned, but not carried - items and their relation to encumbrance

Is there a way to mark items as owned, but not carried?

For instance, one of my players has a rogue who collects items to store about his quarters. he has purchased a chest and good lock to keep these things in, and it would be nice to be able to track the items he payed for and owns, but that he doesn't carry around.

The chest weighs 25 pounds, you see, and if we include it in his portfolio, it pushes his encumbrance to medium. Is there a toggle available that I don't know about? I would like to be able to use this tool to track a PC cradle-to-grave, keeping track of items/expenditures (things like purchasing a house), but I can't quit figure out how to handle this part.

Near the top of the list of gear thats available is "-Custom Location-" - you can add that and rename it "Chest" or "My House", then use the button on each piece of gear that looks like a sack to move it into that location. Once in a location, the weight of a piece of gear isn't applied to your character.

On the journal tab, create a new journal entry. Name it "House Purchase", and apply the cost as negative amounts of cash earned. That way you have the cost paid and a record of the transaction.
