Misc bugs: in the footnotes, Appers this (more or less):

"Musician: you win the combat by +1 if tie"

There should be added: "rally attempt + 1" as well!

Orc and goblins
The Big Un rule is worng: Orc Archers should be counted as normal Orc during count.
If u put 20 Orc Archers, then you should be able to put 20 Big Uns as well...

I don't think that the rules applies only to Orc Boyz

In the original rules you had to have Boyz to make another Boyz unit Big 'Unz but this was changed through errata (can't remember where) to include Arrer Boyz as well as regular Boyz for a normal Big 'Unz unit...
And of course they don't all have to be in the same unit so a unit of 10 Arrer and a unit of 10 Boyz allows a unit of 20 Orc Boyz Big 'Unz...

Well the issue of the musician is a clear mistake, that MUST be fixed

About the Big 'uns... uhm... actually I have a doubt if my objection is right...
Exactly, in what book did you find that correction (@ Deathlynx)?
'cos in the Army List book (2003), reading accurately, it seems that only Boyz count for the total number of Big 'uNs...

Ok.. i've read again (and again) the rules, now I'm 100% sure.
Arrer Boyz DO COUNT for big Uns. The rules quote:

"you must have the same number of Orcs of the same type".

They intend normal orcs or Savage orcs: also savage orcs can become Big Uns.

no problems instead for boar-mounted orcs: mounted orcs - mounted big uns, mounted savage orcs - mounted savage big uns.

I think that this is the most objective and correct interpretation of the rule. If someone has still doubts... mail GW!

As I said I don't know where the ruling is from...You're right according to the Armybook but I think it was errata that came out on the GW forums after the 2004 Chronicals came out...
I do know I've seen this used at tournies and in leagues though...*shrug*...

Q. If I want to field a unit of Big'Uns, what does "type" refer
to in the statement from the O&G book, "Whichever type of unit
you choose to upgrade you must have at least as many normal
models of that type"?

A. Each of the four listed units is a distinct type: Orc Boyz,
Savage Orc Boyz, Orc Boar Boyz or Savage Orc Boar Boyz. E.g.,
in order to field a unit of 30 Orc Boyz Big'Uns, you must field at
least 30 normal Orc Boyz - either 1 unit of 30, a unit of 20 and
a unit of 10, etc. In order to field a unit of 10 Savage Orc Boar
Boyz Big'Uns, you must have at least 10 Savage Orc Boar Boyz in the
army, etc.

In other words, Orc Boyz with bows count as normal Orc Boyz for purposes of taking Big 'Uns.

i draw a totally different conclusion! :-) the ruling there states that 'orc boyz' is a specific type, and that only 'normal' orc boyz count. arrer boyz are hardly normal orcs, they dont always run toward the enemy as fast as they can!

I think that arrer Boyz just normal orcs with a Bow in place of the shield. They have Light Armour and choppa exactly as common orcs. So I think that they should count...

robert, you could be right. I didn't take a look at my army book because I was sure that arrer boyz were just boyz upgraded with bows. Now, looking at the army list I see that they're not only a specific unit choice of their own but they don't have the big 'uns rule listed in their special rules either. This could still use an official clarification but with this info I think you're right and we should go your way at least until further notice.

Well, tournies are using the 'Arrer as Boyz for this purpose...Just because they can't upgrade doesn't mean they don't count...Then again would any self respecting Big 'Un use a pe-uny bow?

In truth it doesn't matter much either way as people can create a list and simply ignore the warning and use the other rules...

Well I'm sure some tournies do and some don't. That doesn't make it any more of an 'official' answer because it is totally dependable on the judges' way of interpreting the O&G army book.

Let me rephrase by dsaying "Official GW tournies" aka Grand Tournaments, Games Days and Battle Bunker/GW store events...Although we know that the last ones don't mean much as they're really no better then the Rulez Boyz at accuracy...Then again the fact that they haven't put out a clarification in over a year and a half doesn't help either...

I think official tournaments allow it only because they have not really thought about the whole issue. The phrasing in the book is very unclear and as Arrer Boyz are already so rare it would seem stupid to punish someone for taking them, especially in a tournament.

WKCChampion, there is no 'choosing' as none of us are able to make rulings. This topic will live on until we get an answer. Too bad Druchii.net is down, there are a couple of people there who could know the answer. I don't have much faith in Asur.org or GW forums. It's not really such a big deal, as deathlynx already said, better go the cautious way and just ignore the validation error if you think it works differently.

Could be quite true...unfortunately as they are "official" tournements sponcered by the game's developer and often with designer staff present it tends to add a certain weight to their rulings...

Only the studio staff can actually make rulings on WHFB and even then Gav, as the current loremaster, has always the last word. Any other opinion is just a personal interpretation of the rules that might or might not be correct. If this issue has come up, I hardly believe any common judge has gone all the way up with this but instead just given it an 'ok' in order to get the game going. As said, this is not such a fundemental issue and I hardly believe many people even take a second to think about it, instead of just going with one interpretation or the other with a gut instinct.
