NPC XP and Hit Dice

How can I add XP and Hit Dice to an NPC?
Whenever I click on CR (in the Classes Tab) I get the message:" to add expierience, go to the journal tab and add a jorunal entry".
Problem is, there is no Journal tab!!
 
If its an NPC, go to Character at the top, select Configure Hero then set the NPC to Non-Player Character instead of Hero.
