Hi everyone,
Since we released Hero Lab 3.7 at the start of June, we've noticed that bunch of you have been playing with Hero Lab 3.7's custom output mechanisms. This is great! We're looking forward to seeing some awesome custom output types in the next few months.
At PaizoCon this weekend, we had some interesting discussions with the guys from Paizo and d20pro about some things we can potentially do with custom output in the future, beyond the "d20pro export" functionality we have right now. As a result, we may be making some minor changes to Hero Lab's custom output format, to give us further options for doing cool stuff down the line.
Sometime next week, we're planning to release an update for Hero Lab that will make these changes. Unfortunately, any custom output types that you've created so far will need some modifications to continue working with the new version of HL. However, these modifications will be very minor, and you'll be able to make them in a matter of minutes - we'll be posting examples of the changes you need to make with the update.
Because of these upcoming potential changes, we'd like to request that you hold off on distributing your custom output types widely until after we've made this update. If you already have been distributing stuff, please be aware that anyone who's using your custom output type will need to get an updated version to use it with Hero Lab 3.7a.
Sorry for any inconvenience - this is a change we're making to allow us to make Hero Lab more versatile and powerful in the future, so we hope you'll understand. We'll post more details next week with the update, to help you make the minor changes that will be required for compatibility with Hero Lab 3.7a.
