Trying to build a file and having issues.

Building Def file
Made the Stats
Had to make the Stats in the Group section so I could add them to
the Model and Buildings StatSets

The problem when tring to make the data file I get errors saying I
need Tags for all the Stats, when checking the example files the
Stats there do not have Tags

WHat I am doing wrong?

Also it says I need an Enity tag defined, I tred just reproducing
the one from the sample file but still get the error.

Many more questions to come I am sure, and sorry if these are duh
questions but this is my first attempt and I have about 2 weeks to
get something working.

Thanks for any and all help,

Rather than starting from scratch, it might be a good idea if you took an
existing definition file and modified it. If you know a game similar to
starship troopers (which I assume this question is in regards to), try
taking the definition file and altering it to your own needs. Which games
is ST most similar to? 40k, warhammer, ...?

For the stats you're having problems with - you'll need to define a tag
group with the same unique id as each stat. The tags will be defined
automatically (unless you specify that the stat 'uses tags'), but you'll
still need to create a tag group for each one.

Not a problem, we all have to start somewhere. :)

Hope this helps,

Also note that stats, and their tags can be in aug (augmentation)
files also - not a good practice, but they can be. You may not be
seeing tags for stats (or the stats) because they are there instead of
in the def files.

Typically, the def file is for anything that would apply to the entire
game system (stats may be, but you might end up with different stats
sets for Mobile Infantry than Bugs - haven't played the game. And by
stat sets is that you have completely different stats for each type,
not just different values).

The aug file is army-specific (or whatever you are calling the
dropdown selection you make when creating a new roster - in FOW I call
mine nationality, but Rich uses Companies). It has the same things
as are in the def file, but only those for the selection you make.
Keeps you from having to load 10000 tags for every unit and race every
time you go to create a roster.

Hope this sheds more light.

It depends on what the stats are used for. If you have a stat that's only
used within a specific race, then putting it in the augmentation file might
well be a good idea - that way it doesn't clutter up the definition file
with unnecessary stuff.
