New to HL SO IM LEARNING license q

im only two months into my license but i am curious...When its time to renewmy licenses and data pkgs(i currently have 3 game systems and one optional data pkg) do i have to repay the full price for each each time or is there a special rate for renewing?
full price essentially rebuying it every year seemsa little excessive to keep using something i already purchased. yes i do understand there are constant updates and server maintainence. just feeels strange if i need to pay full price every year.

Licenses for Hero Lab *never* expire. This is a major difference from our Army Builder and Card Vault products. With Hero Lab, you purchase a license to each game system individually, while Army Builder grants access to all game systems for a single price. So the dynamics are completely different.

The cost of license extensions for Army Builder and Card Vault is about 30% of the original purchase price (e.g. $12.50 for AB compared to a $39.99 initial purchase). So yearly extensions are significantly cheaper than you're assuming - when they apply. In the case of Hero Lab, they don't even apply.

You'll find all the particulars outlined in gory detail for each product on our website. Within the product section, follow the link to "Licensing Details" (or something very similar).

wow rob thats great news...u mean i never need to renew or extend my hero lab?(im only asking cause im postive that something was said that i get updates for a year.i thought that if i didnt renew then hl would go back to demo mode ( this thought was reinforced by the fact that renew is in the menu and options....but if it never expires thats great and very fair since ive bought muti games 4 it and at least one supplement. i hope that I understood you right that i own them now and dont need to relicise...does this also apply 4 the data packs?thanks man.

There is no extend/renew mechanism for Hero Lab - that only applies to our Army Builder and Card Vault products, which work quite a bit differently from Hero Lab.

I just checked in my copy of HL and there is no option relating to extend/renew that I can see. Where did you see it? If you can point it out, we need to remove it, as it probably crept in due to the shared framework between HL and our other products.

All aspects of HL involve no renewals. So that applies to core data packages, add-on data packages, etc. The only costs associated with HL will be optional data packages and/or any potential separate add-ons for the core product we might release. We don't have anything planned, but it's possible somewhere down the line.

Hey man...I guess its my bad I thought there was a renew licence option under the lic tool bar however, i went back and saw it was only re activate....(i assume a safety in case something happens to my puter or hero lab. I thought i also read about renew lic. on your site before I purchase HL. i guess i got HL mixed up w/AB&CV LOLI SO HAPPY that theres no renewal needed cause I use HL for so many of my games. I wonder will lone wolf put out some sort of mappeer....possibly intergrating GM toosl ? if you had that AND HL that would be THE ULTIMATE 1 2 punch of E-TOOLS!

Im intersted in gifting hero lab to a buddy of mine? Whats the best way to do this?I assume I cant just buy another license on his compuer as my cc is linked to my lic? I know i could install My lic on his puter but Id rather he use his own? whats the best way to accomplish this without affecting my hl account or lic? thanks for your patience.

There are already some really topnotch mapping tools out there, so we're not planning to reinvent that wheel right now. Our vision for "the ultimate 1-2 punch" is to release our (briefly mentioned but not yet described) upcoming product named Realm Works.

We'll be talking about it more reasonably soon. At that point, you'll hopefully agree that we're working on something pretty cool and useful. :-)

The info was extremely helpful and I cant wait 4 the new product- I already love my HL (HELPS KEEP ME ORGANIZED AND CUTS DOWN ON PAPER AS WELL AS MISTAKES ITS GREAT!):)
