New hex using Hero Lab Editor

Hi,

I want to add a new hex (home brew) to my character on Hero Lab, but have no idea how to create a hex in the editor. Has anyone tried this before? Any help would be great and very much appreciated!

Lethe Ward (Su): A witch can cause an undead creature within 30 feet to become transfixed, as per the spell halt undead. The creature receives a Will save to negate the effect, even if it is non-intelligent. If the save fails, the creature is transfixed for a number of rounds equal to the witch's level. This hex can affect an undead creature of any HD. This hex ends immediately if the creature takes damage. Whether or not the save is successful, a creature cannot be the target of this hex again for 1 day.

FAQ #2 has where to find help on the editor. My advice is to watch the four videos or at least the first one to help on starting the editor and making your first .user file.

Then the tab in the editor you are looking for is the "Custom Ability" tab. You would create a "New (Blank)" custom ability. Then fill in the above text and give a new "Unique ID". Then one of the first buttons is the "Class" to link the ability to. You would want "Witch". Sorry not near HL so can't remember the exact name of the button.

Then one of the buttons is the "Standard DC" which you would set to "Intelligence". To be really fancy you can use the "Append Spell Info" button to setup the "Halt Undead" spell so all its info will get displayed on the hex.

Save your Changes. Then do "Test Now!". Hex will now show up in the list of hexes for the witch.

If you get any error messages you can "Right Click" on the error window and select "COPY". Then past to this thread and we can try and help you out.
