Multiclass Barbarian/Wizard

MardukBathory

Well-known member
Just for fun I thought I'd multi-class a barbarian wizard, my reasoning being that a young tribe member might be picked for shamanistic training but would still likely receive some weapons training and possibly have the natural ability to channel his or her rage in combat.

I can't find anything in the PHB that would prohibit a barbarian/wizard (unless I'm just overlooking it?) but I can't seem to do it in HeroLab, for some reason. I have the prerequisite 13 intellect and I don't need a secondary score above a certain level.

The only problem I can envision is that there is no practical, mechanical need need to multiclass this particular combo.

I presume you are meeting the prerequisites for both classes? That would be, off the top of my head, 13+ in Strength, Constitution, and Intelligence.

Your starting class doesn't have prerequisites, though. It might work against you but you can be a barbarian with 6 strength. There are only requisite criteria when you want to take on an extra class. My barbarian had 12 strength but 16 intellect (choosing to use finesse and light weapons).

You have to meet the prerequisites for both classes to multi-class. You can have any stats if you single class as you say, but to multi-class you have to meet the requirements for both classes.
