Multi-classing

I have a player that is a cleric of Sune.
He decided to multi-class to paladin, but it only gives him light or medium armor, while a paladin should have heavy armor proficiency as well.

After searching this forum, it appears that this is a known issue, but is there a chance of getting it fixed anytime soon? The posts I found about it go back almost a year.
 
When you multi-class into Paladin, you only get Medium armor as per Multi-classing in the PHB. (p.164)
