Is there any way with army builder to track a warbands stash (equipment not
assigned to any hero or henchmen)?

The way that I have been keeping track of unused equipment is in the custom
notes section (Control-E).  Then you can just type in any special
information.

Record them in the Notes box, Ctrl-E.
