Mordheim data for army builder

  • Thread starter Thread starter vipercom at mediaone.net

Hello,
I just bought army builder and downloaded the AB files referenced below.
Both the software and the AB files are excellent.
I would like to report some bugs I've found while creating a
witchhunter warband, specifically while equiping my flagellants:

1) When I select flail, I am given the choice of picking a 2nd flail.
The book states that it is a 2 handed weapon and so you can't use
anything else.
2) Same problem for the morningstar although the book calls it
"difficult to use" so you can use a normal shield if not in HtH.
3) Same problem, although I am curious to find out who could wield a
Double-handed "double-handed" weapon? Giant, up-right walking,
spiders???
4) The "Burn the Witch" special rule prints that the Captain hates
spellcasters. Actually all witchhunters(captain and heroes) hate
spellcasters.

Anyway, that's my 2cents worth. Please forward to the person that ownes
the AB files if they are not on this list.

As an FYI, I'm studying the manual furiously so I can create AB files
too
for some of the un-official warbands that other people and myself have
created
and posted on the web. Since I am new to this I can't promise when but
I will
post to this list when I have something usable.

Thanks,
Hugo(Ed is my alter ego)

The one on Killroy's sight is incorrect. Are there any others?

Where does it state this? It says that you can have up to 2 hand to hand
combat weapons, but I can't remember anything about an extra limit on
2-handed ones.

You can always use a shield if you're not in hand to hand, whatever
weapons you have.

Good point, I'll get it fixed.

I downloaded mordheim6.zip and it looks like it suffers from the same
problem.
I don't know if this relates but I am using Armybuilder 1.4c
I added comments down below too.

Under the Flail description on page 41 of the book.

I agree but this gets into a rules interpretation I think.
What is the difference between the Flail description on page 41 and
the Morningstar description on page 42? I'll hazard a guess but maybe
I should send this one to the Rulz Boyz for the final say.
IMO, If you select a flail, you can not use any other off-hand item in
HtH.
If you select a morningstar, you can only use a shield in the off-hand
in HtH.
Comments?
Flagellant don't use shields so they won't care either way but other
models might.

That's what I was wondering. If you create a dummy witchhunter warband
and then add a flagellant and select Double handed weapon on the unit
options you get a choice of a 2nd double handed weapon. The
program/datafile lets you
do it but I don't think that was intended in the book.

No, I don't think so.

Flails need 2 hands to use. Unless you have 3 or more hands (possible
for Possessed) you can't use anything else while you're using it, but
you can still carry other things.

Correct.

There's nothing to stop you carrying 2. You can only use one at a time,
obviously.

Hello,
I agree that you should be able to carry weapons that are not used,
however why does the unit option disable all other weapon choices as
soon as I've picked two? For example, if I select 2 hammers then I
can't select the free dagger that most models get, I.E. it looks like
I'm limited to what I can actually hold in each hand. There appears to
be no provision for weapons carried elsewhere on my model. I'm okay
with noting down which weapons I'm using in actual HtH versus carried ,
however, I haven't figured out how to do that so far. How do I select
more than 2 weapons?

Onto a different warband. I was working on a Sisters of Sigmar warband
and noticed that the Sigmarite Hammer didn't mention the STR+1 that it
gives the user.

Just so that this doesn't sound like a b*!%ch session, I AM very
impressed with the completeness of the datafiles and while entering my
warbands have learned several rule interpretations where I was
obviously incorrect. :)
Thanks

Um... no...

A double handed weapon is a weapon class all of it's own. Double Handed
Swords, Axes, Clubs, etc. all work the same way - you get +2 Strength
but strike last. If you choose, for example, a Sword and a Double-handed
weapon, you have a Sword (which can parry) and a Double Handed Weapon of
some sort (which gives you +2S and strikes last), you can choose which
to use.

I see now. I had assumed that when you select double-handed it modified
the original item, i.e. if you wanted a double-handed Axe you paid
20 gold(5 for the axe plus 15 to make it double-handed). This item
would then have the special rules of both the axe and double-handed.

>From what you just said below, a double-handed axe and a double-handed
sword
are identical(they use doublehanded special rules only) and both cost
15 gold.

Thanks,

Hello,
Thanks for the education on double handed weapons. Got another one for
you.
I think I found a missing feature on the Reiklander Captain.
The other warbands I've created gave the Captain a gold and wyrdstone
unit item so I could track left over gold and unsold wyrdstone. I can't
seem to find
those on the Reiklander Captain. I checked all the other warband
captains and they look okay.
Thanks,
Hugo(Ed is my alter ego)

Yeah, some other bods have mentioned it. It'll be fixed in the next
update.

Not to nit-pick and I am sure it has been mentioned (somewhere) but the
possessed aren't given the option of getting shadowlord rewards.

IIRC, only Mutants and the Magister can get them. It says at the top of
the page, I believe.
