Hi,

I can't seem to get Batch Edit to work sensiabilly. When I am trying
to set all my Eldar Cards to Target Quanity=5(4 for a deck and 1 to
collect) I have the filter set for Faction=Eldar. Batch Target Usage
is set for Fixed and Only Highlighted. In Batch Update Inventory
Dialog I have Update Only Highlighted, Quality=unknown(Default for
all cards in this file), Language=NO Constriant, Style=NO Constraint.

I select only "Target Quanity to Own" and set it to 5. Click Ok

Results:
Most cards are set to "--" for their "Target Quanity to Own" Value.
Some have "-0+". What is wrong.

Thanks

I just tried batch editing the target quantities of a few things, and it
seemed to work fine. Could you perhaps give a step-by-step record of what
you tried, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened?
Including what records you selected, what buttons you clicked, and so on?

Thanks,

After Starting CardVault I typed Cntl+I
>From the "Tools" Menu I select "Reset Inventory"
>From the "Tools" Menu I select "Batch Target Usage"
Dialog Box Opens
In the Dialog "Configure Behavior of Target Quantities"
I select First "Use a Fixed Target Quantity"
Second "Only Modify Cards Highlighted in Inventory"
I Click on "Proceed" Button
Dialog Box then closes
I click on "Spiral" Button
Dialog Box Opens
In the Dialog "Specify Criteria for Cards Shown"
I select First "Faction"
Second "Eldar"
I Click on "OK" Button
Dialog Box then closes
I click on the top card shown "Adael Warp Spiders Delos"
Scroll to bottom of cards shown
Hold down shift key
I click on the bottom card shown "Yaevin Dark Reaper Pandora"
All Cards Lettering turn "bright white" on blue
>From the Tools menu I select "Batch Edit"
Dialog Box Opens
In the Dialog "Batch Update of Inventory"
I select First "Only Update Cards Highlighted in Inventory"
Second Set "Quality" to "Unknown"(Default)
Third Set "Only Update This Language" to "No Contraint"
Fourth Set "Only Update This Style" to "No Contraint"
Fifth select ONLY "Update Target Quantity to Own"
Sixth Set "Update Target Quantity to Own" to 5
I Click on "OK" Button
A Message Box Pops up
It informs me I am about to update 176 cards.
I Click "yes" on Message Box
Message Box Closes
Dialog Box then closes
========================
My Expectation
I expected all Eldar cards to have the "Target" set to 5
========================
What happens instead is that only cards from
"Adael Warp Spiders Delos" to "Court of the Young King Coronis(both)"
are updated. Also, those are the card I can modify the quantity in
any column. All other card can not me incremented nor decremented in
any fashion given in the help doc.

Thanks for your help

Since you already filtered for the cards you want to change. You don't
have to highlight them. Just do the batch edit and make sure "only
update cards highlighted" is not selected.

Did you select ("highlight") the cards in the inventory beforehand? If not,
doing this will have only changed the one card you had highlighted.

Also, what was in the Target column once you had done this? Were all cards
showing "+ 0 -", or "--"? Were some (possibly the ones off the screen) set
to one, and others to the other?

So on the cards that weren't updated, you can't change the target value? Or
do you mean you can't change *any* value (owned, excess or acquire)?

Thanks

Hi Colen,
Thanks for the replys. And thanks to Jim W. as well

Yes, I did everything in the order given in the previous post. No
exception. I wrote the post as I did each action and got the result I
stated. Each Line describes a step I did or an action that Card Vault
did ( ie popup window), that is why the post is so long. Also the
message box that popup after clicking "ok" button in the "Batch
Update Inventory" Dialog box indicated I am about to affect 176 Cards.

The Taget Column Question:
Upon clicking "OK" button on the Message Popup Dialog box, Card Vault
resets the screen. The target column is set to "-5+" for the first 30
or so cards. Please note I did not tell Card Vault to change the
sort, therefore. I used the default sort. I notice if I had Card
Vault in a window that is not full screen, the number of cards who
target column seem to match what was shown on the window. However,
when the window was full screen, the same number and same cards were
changed, which totaled less than what appeared on the full screen.

Question? Have you tried to re-creating my problem via the example in
my post?

Thanks for your help .

Hi Jim,

I tried your suggestion not highlighting cards and highlighting cards.
When I did not highlight the cards(Faction=Eldar), only the first six
were done. When I highlighted all the cards(Faction=Eldar), ony the
first 30 were done.
Again, the cards not changed are uneditable. I can not increment no
decrement any column.

Thanks

Are you running a fully licensed copy of CV? Or a you running in DEMO mode?
My guess is the latter.

In demo mode, you are limited to modifying a maximum of 30 records within
the inventory manager. After the inventory values for 30 cards are modified
in some way, no other cards can be adjusted in any way. If you try to
modify the other cards once the first 30 have been manipulated, it will
appear as you describe - nothing happens to those cards and CV appears to
not work correctly.

When you first launch in demo mode, CV warns you that you will be limited
to adding 20 cards to a deck and 30 cards to the inventory. This is how the
limitation manifests itself. Once 30 cards are added to the inventory
database in some way, you can't modify any other cards.

While you operate within demo mode, you can only modify the quantities for
cards that are among the first 30 you adjusted. If you perform a batch edit
that affects some cards from the first 30 and numerous other cards, only
the cards from the first 30 will be modified and the rest ignored.

If you want to start over with the inventory manager and experiment with a
different 30 cards, you will need to delete the inventory database file for
the game system. The easiest way to do this is the Reset Inventory option
within the inventory manager menu.

Hope this helps,
Rob

I exten my appoligies to everyone and thanks to everyone who replied.
Upon opening the WH40KCCG Game System, CV does state the 20 & 30 card
limits. I was operating under the assumption(?!) that target number
was not an entry, but rather an indicator. Errrg, I was wrong.
Thanks again to all who replied.
