Magus stacking with Wizard

My one gripe with the Magus is that it does not stack well for a character that multi-classes with Wizard. I was thinking that the best way to do this would be to make a Magus Archetype that alters the spellcasting capability, such that it removes the ability from the Magus class, and instead adds caster levels to the Wizard class (like the Eldritch Knight or Mystic Theurge does).

Has anyone else already done this? Are there any pitfalls that people anticipate before I start messing around with it? Helpful insights? As of yet I have not tried to tackle making an archetype, so this is my first attempt at doing that.

I was thinking that I would look at the two PrCs listed above and see how they would do it. I would not need to ask for the caster class, however. But then again I might so that it could be a Sorcerer Magus if desired.
