Magic Item - how to create a custom magic item?

I apologize if this is a duplicate; however, it does not appear that my new thread got posted...

How do I create a custom magic weapon? I am a Gamemaster for a pathfinder game and have a custom magic weapon that I need to add to hero lab. How do I add a "simple" custom magic weapon to Hero Lab (the composite longbow has different pluses and the quiver has some special qualities - like it can hold more arrows - similar in nature to a limited bag of holding - can hold 40 arrows but does not feel different that a quiver that can hold 20)?

How do I add a custom magic item?

Thanks!

Is this just something you need to put on a character? You can purchase a custom magical weapon on the Weapons tab, specifying the base weapon, plus, material, and special abilities.

For the bow, as long as you are adding an enhancement bonus and special qualities that are from sources you have purchased for HL, you do that through the "Add custom masterwork/magic weapon" option under the Weapons tab.

As for the quiver you are describing, that sounds like something you will need to create in the Editor. All in all, the rules you are describing sound pretty easy to put together in the Editor. Maybe look at the entry for efficient quiver for some specifics...

Thanks for the quick reply! I see what you are taking about now. Yes, it was for a PC I'm tracking in my copy of Hero Lab. I was able to add the Composite Longbow "close enough"... the only thing I could not figure out how to do is to add a restriction to the bow. It's special abilities and the plus's are for rangers only... it is a +2 longbow for non-rangers. For rangers, it is +5/seeking. Since the PC who currently owns it is a ranger, not a big deal.

I got the weapon added into the system (now that I see the custom entry in the weapon tab :o

I've not used the editor as yet but for some other things, know I will need to figure it out eventually... looks like the time is now.

Yeah, that's how it was with me. The Editor is a bit intimidating, but it's not as bad as you think once you start using it. My advice is to check out some tutorials, and power through. The forums are filled with super helpful folks, so don't be shy with scripting questions.

If you can invest the time, there is a long (hour+) video from an Introduction to the Editor seminar that LWD held at GenCon - that was the thing that I fell pushed me into really understanding the basics. You do need to set aside some time, but it will pay dividends down the line - I felt it WELL worth the time spent.

The extradimensional quiver sounds pretty straightforward, so that would be my suggestion for the start.

The funky composite bow is a bit more complicated, but it shouldn't be too bad. I'd suggest copying the entry for a Holy Avenger and swap out the weapon type and class it connects to.

Good luck!
