License question

So, I reloaded my machine and I admit I haven't used Army Builder in awhile but wanted to get it on there in the hopes that I'd actually paint something. :) I was interested in that there was a new version, a minor version upgrade and was happy to see it load. However, when I applied my existing (admittedly old) license, I was told that this version wouldn't accept the license because it is that old.

I can't say I'm terribly excited to be purchasing a new license (or license extension, but more on that in a moment) for a product for a minor version upgrade but I decided that it was worth it. However, upon going to the licensing site and logging in I noticed that I had to purchase a 3-year extension on my existing license to give myself access for about 2 weeks. There is no 4-year option and honestly at that point it's easier simply to buy Army Builder all over again.

I never minded the disabling of network downloading of data files without an active license because that was only for convenience, but now I'm essentially being forced to re-purchase a product if I want the latest version. Again, if this was a full version change (say 3.x to 4.x) I wouldn't even question it, and would expect to pay for the upgrade even if I had an active license. Additionally, I would gladly pay for the 1-year (or longer) extension if the date I purchase that extension could be where the year starts instead of where the license expired.

I'll be honest, I've purchased every single piece of software that Lone Wolf has put out. In fact, I just purchased the Pathfinder data set for Hero Lab not even a half hour ago. I've had a great track record with both the product and the customer service I've received. At this point, I'm not even asking for any kind of free or reduced price on a license (though don't get me wrong, I'd be a fool not to take one if offered :) ). I simply wanted to bring a potential snafu to the existing licensing model forward.

I'll most likely break down and purchase a completely new copy of Army Builder some time down the road when my own personal finances recover from GenCon, regardless of how this post is received. Again, I just wanted to bring the issue forward. Thanks for listening.
