Invalid unique id

For the past two days I have been pulling my hair out with the editor. I feel like I know just enough to drive myself nuts. I started out trying to make an NPC that is possessed by a vilkacis in Carrion Crown Adventure Path. I noticed that the vilkacis possessing should be a template I can apply to NPC or PC who would get possessed so I switched to that. As I saved and tested I have been getting error messages. I try to figure it out by searching the forum and the help documents but I've reached a point that I can't figure it out. I get the following error message:

File: Corvin Possessed.user (line 14) - Thing 'tmVilkPoss' - Invalid unique id

I think a combination of being tired, frustrated, not knowing enough, and too many windows open for researching that I'm at my wits end. Can someone help me? Please.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You have a .user file and you mention Carrion Crown. So I am going to assume your using the "Editor" not the authoring kit for Pathfinder? If so I would advise asking questions in the Pathfinder forum.

I would also recommend checking out the Glossary of Terms for the Editor HERE. Then checking out FAQ#2 on how to learn the editor and some intro videos.

In this specific case I am not sure from what you posted what is wrong. You can attach a .user file to a forum post and that maybe handy here so that I could take a look at it.

Have you made copies of several things, in order to study them? Are any of your copies still around when you pressed the "Test Now!" button?

Look through what you've created - look at the Unique Id field (top center) - do any of those Ids have the ? character in them - that's an invalid character for Ids.
