In need of help

SAbel

Well-known member
Just before GenCon my computer crashed(in reality I lost a tablet had to have two laptops redone and left everything with my trusty PC tech Store), and well now I have a new PC and it has a SSD drive and a hard drive.
I need help:
1. The SSD is C: and I am using it for operating system and such, so Hero Lab and all my LWD software is on the F: drive
I have reloaded/re-installed HL (so far) but my Data sets have been a horrible pain to get up and running. I am reloading the DDI 4E files because HL does not seem to find them and I can not get any of the sets I have started to work on to show up thought the data is still there.
2. I have HL in one file on my F: drive but now I am wondering if that is going to cause problems.
3. I can not find the Tools file to change the data sets additions so I keep having things such as Savage Worlds Rippers 2.1 that shows as not installed because it is trying to go to my C: drive
I still need to put back in Army Builder and possible card vault.

Is there a way to move my transfer data backups to the proper place on my F: drive (if so can some one tell me how)
How can I get HL file sets that I am working on (example L5R data set) to show up again in the HL load menu. with out losing the work I have in it or do I have to start again?
Is any one else using an SSD as C: drive and does it cause problems with up dates?
Thank you for the help.

In HL, from the Tools menu, you can choose Explore Folders, and it will open a file window to show the actual folder containing the files.

I have HL installed on my E: drive (in E:\Program Files (x86)\Hero Lab".
Selecting "Game System Data Folder" shows that it is located in C:\ProgramData\Hero Lab\data\pathfinder.

"Program Data Folder" is C:\ProgramData\Hero Lab
"User Data Folder" is <myname>\My Documents\Hero Lab

So maybe your information was on the old C: drive (did you make regular backups)?

Hey I have all the old information located in the F: drive
Thought it does not all seem to be working!
4E is not linking or finding any of the data that is there (computer> Storage (F:) > Program Files> Hero Lab
When I look with Tools in the HL program under 4E it looks in Computer> Local Disk (C:)> ProgramData> Hero Lab {I have no ProgramData file on my SSD drive} So I am stuck with how to change the location of the search so that it looks at the F: drive not the C:
hoping for some help

The C:\ProgramData is part of standard Windows (the variable %ProgramData%) but I'm not sure why it doesn't already exist as part of a Windows installation.

I guess proper Tech Support will available after GenCon finished :-)

(e.g. have you raised a ticket?)

Thanks Farling,
I have sent in a ticket and I figure they are still getting back and recovering from GenCon so I hope by weeks end I will have it all working. Hopefully before Saturday which is my game group meeting and I am not sure if everyone has characters up to date (here's hoping)

The ProgramData directory is hidden by default. Go into your file settings and set it to Show Hidden Files and Directories and you will be able to see the directory. A quick Google search can help you in setting that up.

Okay it has been five days and only a reply monday that I have a support ticket, but nothing.
1. I have un-hidden my SSD (Drive C:) program DATA file and have all my HL 4E files in there but still not working :(
Of course I have a game tomorrow night and probably no characters! arg

I will keep plugging away at it and see what I can do (AKA mess up even more) I will update when & if I make a break through.

Hi Sean,

I've responded to your support case, so please get back to me with more information if you can. Thanks!
