Hey everyone,
My names Jeff. I just bought HL for Pathfinder the other day.

Loving it.

I posted my recommendation for it on my Blog. Great work folks!

Thanks!!!

The single greatest compliment that anyone can give us is to recommend Hero Lab to their friends and in public forums. So thank you very much!!! :-)

Sure thing Rob, I'm loving HL I just bought M&M and the M&M supplements the other day.

I was wondering if you ever considered giving a way a free or heavily discounted version of HL that is usable for one of the OGL systems like Labyrinth Lords, ZeFRS, 4C, or one of the other "free" games, in order to get more people to download HL.

I'm thinking if they do and they see how cool it is they may decide to buy other system add-ons.

We've never considered the idea because we never thought of it. :-)

The real question is whether one of those "free" games has a big enough player base that will adopt Hero Lab for one of the systems we sell. That requires that the player base of the "free" game must *also* play one or more of the systems we sell. There's no data available for that, so we'd essentially be taking a wild guess based on anecdotal evidence (at best) if we pursued the idea.

This is definitely something we should discuss in-house, since there might be a way to effectively leverage the idea somehow. I'm just thinking aloud regarding my initial concerns with the idea.

Thanks for suggesting this!

And by making it free or at a "special low price" it casts positive light on your company as giving back to the fans. and good publicity never hurts.

If you wanted to explore this further I would suggest looking around the various message boards RPGNET, Dragonsfoot and such or maybe communicate with the companies that are producing support for games like OSRIC or maybe the Swords and wizardry guys. There are plenty of Grognard boards out there talking up the "Old School Gaming" renaissance.

Anyway its just a possible gateway to show your products potential to another segment of the market. Good luck with it all,
Jeff

Indeed. While I use HL for M&M and WoD, I wouldn't mind being able to use HL for some of the free games I play.

Imagine a Risus dataset... Now that's a bit of overkill.
