I got too many feats

Often when I create a new character, I get too choose to one more feat than allowed by the rules. I have checked that its not the fighter bonus feat, or bonus feat from being human.

Anybody else got this, or am I missing something?

Only solution I got so far is to start over :(

Do you have a specific race and class you are using? that way we could try to duplicate it.

If its just a metter of being allowed to choose too many. that is true. HL does not stop you from exceeding the amount you should have and adding in any number of feats you would like. But it will highlihgt an error for the page just to let you know.

Down in the "Optional Rules" section, do you have "Free Upbringing Feat" selected?

It doesn't allow me to choose an extra feat like it should, but that's what it's supposed to do, and that might be the issue for you.

In fact, now that I think about it, I'm gonna test it with the new 3.8a, and see if it still doesn't allow me an extra feat, and if so, I'm gonna report it as a bug.

I don't know if either of these have been reported yet.

1) Checking the "Free Upbringing Feat" box in the "Optional Rules" section doesn't give me an extra feat at all.

2) This has happened with most NPC's I've made, but not all, and I've double checked my math numerous times. I set their starting GP to the amount appropriate for their heroic or nopc class and level, buy their gear, then, if I change the starting gold again to reflect the pocket money I want the NPC to be carrying, it instead of turning into say... 33 gp, it turns into -33 gp. Every time this happens, it becomes the negative of the exact value I'm trying to put it as.

Free Upbringing is not supposed to add a bonus feat. It makes one feat from the Upbringing category not apply towards your count of feats taken (and Inner Sea World Guide updated most of the feats from the Rise of the Runelords adventure path that originally had the Upbringing category so that they no longer count towards this).

If you want to know if something has been reported before, there's a search function for this forum - it's at the top right while you're looking at the thread listing.

That's weird. The post where I numbered the two "bugs" I actually posted in the "Pathfinder version 6.5 Bug Report" thread, using the quick reply box, but it showed up here...........

As for the Upbringing Feat thing though, I gotcha. Never played RotRL, so I didn't know Upbringing Feats were a specific feat category, I just figured it was another word for a background feat, as I've found that to be a rather common house rule.

I moved the post - it wasn't a bug, so it didn't need to be cluttering up the bug reports thread.
