When I start my HeroLab, I get to the config screen, and where is says "User Content", it says, "No user sources defined". I have some content I found on CheeseWeasles site and cant access it. What can I do to fix this?

User content is things you or others have created (the editor is available through the Tools menu...Launch Editor) - not things that we create. So by default, the User Content source should have nothing in it when you first purchase Hero Lab, and there's nothing you're missing.

If you download something that someone else has created, place it in the data files folder for the game system you're working with. You can go to the Tools menu...Explore Folders...Game System Data Folders to find out where that folder is on your system.

I have Win 7, and placed them in:
c:\ProgramData\Hero Lab\data\pathfinder

Still, no User Content is availible.

This is actually for a friend of mine, (a registered user of HeroLab too) and I have mine in this directory, and have the option for User Content... but he does not, and placed them in the exact same place.

More help is needed please.

If HL was running when you did this be sure to restart HL. Also make sure you didn't put the .zip file in that directory. You need to put .user files into that directory to get them to work.

We did not have HL running when we coppied the files there.

Also, the files are there, NOT the zipped files. (I did not think of this but he did it correctly)

anything else we can look at?

Thanks

If you open the editor in that copy of Hero Lab and open existing files, you see something in that list, right?

When you open the Pathfinder files, do you get any error reports?

If so, among that message, does it tell you it's loading in recovery mode?

Yes there are 3 errors. See attached pic.

ok, that makes sence, but I tried all these files on my system and got no errors.

How do I know which file is causing the error?

The error says the rWrthLop is trying to bootstrap 3 things that don't exist on your system. "r" at the start means it is a race, so I would recommend go to Tools -> Launch Editor, then open the user files you got from your friend/the internet and look for that race. Once found, click on the bootstrap button in the upper right, find the bootstraps identified in the error, and delete them. Then reload your system and hopefully it will work.
