How to use a non standard size weapon

I was trying to make a barbarian like the iconic one, that uses a large sized weapon, and could not equip it after purchasing it. I looked in the optional rule section and found nothing to toggle enable it. am I missing an option, is this a bug, or working as intended. I know it has support in the rules, and even has an icon ic that uses them. how can I use this myself.
 
Amiri, the iconic Pathfinder Barbarian, uses a large bastard sword. Which, of course, Barbarians aren't proficient with. So you have to burn your first feat on Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Sword, Bastard). If you are playing a race that is medium in size and have added the necessary proficiency, you will have no trouble buying and wielding a Large bastard sword in Hero Lab.
