How to level up an NPC

I am experimenting with the software to figure out how it works. I am making a human sniper type. How do I increase its soldier level or up its CR? I'm looking to make this NPC level 3.

There are a couple of ways to do this. If you are tracking experience, then you will need to add an appropriate amount of EXP to the character on the Journal page. Add a journal entry, open the entry and enter the XP amount where listed, and then click "Add Wealth or XP". Then when you go to the Classes page it will say you have enough XP for a new level.

If you are using milestone levelling, then enable "No XP to Level" on the Settings tab of Character page, then just add the level(s) you need.

In Starfinder, NPCs don't follow the same rules as PCs, they don't have levels per-se nor do they need xp. You just set their CR to an arbitrary number and the benefits from any array, race or class grafts they have should increase appropriately. The CR incrementer is on the Character tab, Race subtab.
