how to get rid of free outfit

Vrischika111

Well-known member
bug/change request :
I'm trying to create a noble-like PC and I added the noble outfit.
How do I get rid of "free outfit" in gear tab ?
I don't want my noble to have a "traveller's outfit" or an "artisant" outfit.

Question :
btw, I understand (due to price) that noble outfit is not free (in GP), but it should be weightless if it's the only outfit equipped, shouldn't it ?

Thanks,

Vrischika

Can you add a toggle for the free outfit to the "configure hero" options? I can see adding it by default to PCs and some NPCs, since they will generally be wearing clothes and ought to have some. But this can also be hilariously inappropriate, as is the case with my bard's mule. Since mules haven't yet been added to HL it wasn't made using the mounts and hirelings item, it was just created as a new creature in the same portfolio. Now poor Thistle continues to show that free set of clothing that just can't be gotten rid of.

I think you can choose which outfit you want from a pull down menu in the gear tab. Just choose Noble Outfit.

no, noble is not in the drop down (it's not one of the free outfit)
and the option to remove it would be nice in some situation (but I agree, it's not a life-saver)

Just to clarify - it shouldn't be weightless - even if you wear the clothes. This was a 3.5 ruling.

I had the discussion for my PFS character - wizard Str.7. To stay light encumbrance, it does make a lot of a difference.

Jason Bulmahn himself came down on me like a ton of bricks when I tried to outlay all the evidence and suggested this is probably an omission in pathfinder that the first set of clothes isn't mentioned as being free encumbrance.

Clothes have weight - by design and even if worn.

Yea Jason has said that even though James Jacobs says the opposite. HERE is the unofficial FAQ showing both posts.

Though Jason was answering for PFS. Personally for my home games I don't mind giving free clothing to a player as I would prefer they NOT walk around naked. :)
