created a character, but I am not finding a way to advance in level?? I'm using the Hero Lab tool, any help would be much appreciated!!

Leveling requires XP. XP can be added through the Journals mechanism.
Journal entries are used to both track the assignment of experience point awards and cash acquisitions. You can also add game notes.
Add a new journal entry. To add experience, type the experience points to add into the control beside the "Add XP" button and then click the button. The amount entered is added to the total shown for the journal entry, as well as to your Hero’s overall experience point total (which can be verified within the "Basics" summary panel). Similarly, to add cash, type the cash values into the coin controls and press the "Earn" button. (You can also enter negative amounts for losing money and experience.)

To actually add a new class or PrC go to the "Class" tab which is the right most tab. Then click just below where it says your current class name. You will then be presented with a new window to select the class you wish to take at level 2.
