One house rule would be to not apply wieght and/or load penalties to skills.
A prime example would be the minus that is applied to the swim skill from wearing full plate armor. Our group assumes that if you intentionally go swimming you are going to strip off your armor.

We already allow you to ignore Encumbrance (it's under Optional
Rules, if you edit the rules on the Configure Hero form), but that
doesn't affect armor check penalty from wearing armor. So I guess
you're looking for the option to disable armor check penalties entirely?
