House Rules and Pathfinder Data Sets

Okay, I plan to use at least one house rule (even think I figured out how to use it), but there's a LOT of other rules I want to use. I've tried searching for this, but IIRC Rob or Colen said that there's no way to use the Authoring Kit to do this with the purchased sets and I can't figure out how to do some of this in the editor, which looks like it doesn't even support some of this.

1. Change how magic is tracked. This is one I think I can figure out with the current capabilities of the editor, but it'd be helpful to actually be able to change to rules in the game completely, as I'm using a spell point system very similar to what's in Unearthed Arcana.

2. Adding new ability scores beyond the Classic 6. This would be really, really helpful if the editor supported this like in the Authoring Kit. I usually use Appearance from the Book of Erotic Fantasy (and something like it even before that book came out), and would like to actually track it correctly in the program.

3. Alter how experience works beyond 20. While I can change the number that gets multiplied, I can't change the multiplier. The Beyond 20 was just a guideline, not a hard and fast rule, and I plan to use the d20 experience chart and Epic Level rules. Basically, in order to level (even beyond 20), you need 1000 points x your current level beyond what you needed to reach your current level. Right now, for each level beyond 20, it doubles what you needed to reach your current level from the level before that.

As of right now, it would really make sense to allow all the functions of the Authoring Kit into the editor for a game (I've got two other game systems beyond the Pathfinder set, so Hero Lab gets a lot of use from me). I love the program, except when issues like these come up and complicate how I track the PCs and NPCs.

Also, a suggestion regarding magic items. Is there any way to include a custom magic item dialog box where you have a drop down list of things it can effect, something similar to how powers are handled in Mutants & Masterminds? While I can track that fine the way things are (adding the item as gear and making the necessary adjustments form the Adjust tab), a dialog box would be nice too just for ease of use (and include some of this in the magic weapons and armor boxes as well). I have a different way of handling magic items in my games that create legacy items instead of the standard, "find +3 sword, ditch +1 sword" way of handling magic items.

Anyway, answers would be helpful if any of this is possible in the editor as is! Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to say that I don't know any way to implement any of these in the Pathfinder game system in HL. They're all changes to fundamental elements of the system.

I'd recommend you go to the Hero Lab Discussion section of this forum, and find the "Which games should Hero Lab support?" threads stickied at the top, and vote for the "d20 system mechanics" - that's what would be needed as a base that would allow you to apply these changes.

For your magic item question, could you give me more information about what you're looking for, and what problem this would solve for you?

Couldn't you implement a new ability by making a new mechanic (sort of like my Dayjob mechanic) and just display the ability in there. Then all things that needed that ability would by definition be new items/things for you and could reference your value directly.
