House Rule creation: extra feat or trait as reward

My groups GM will occasionally give our players an extra feat or trait as a reward. Adding the feat or trait is simple enough, except that HeroLab will then insist I have an invalid character. I know that HeroLab is techincally correct, but I was hoping to find a way to fix this.

Is there something I can do, possibly by creating a houserule or something similar, to correct the situation? Possibly even create a button or journal entry or something else that can indicate I was rewarded a feat or trait? If anyone has either already solved this one, or can give me some decent tips for what I could try within the HeroLab editor, that would be great.

On the adjust tab you can add an adjustment to increase or decrease your number of feat slots. I don't recall if there is a similar one for traits, but you could pretty easily build one by looking at the "Extra Traits" feat and the same adjustment for feats I mentioned earlier.

I am pretty sure there is an Extra Trait adjustment - I am running a campaign with an extra starting trait, and I have everyone's portfolio up to date with no validation errors.

One nice thing about the adjustments is they give you a "source" field, so you can note where the adjustment came from.

Yes, there are Adjustments for both both Feats Allowed and Traits Allowed. I usually put them under Permanent Adjustments on the Personal tab.

Well, that is significantly easier than I was expecting it to be. And makes me feel like a doofus. Thank you for the help!

I'm going to go sit in the corner with this dunce cap I just tripped over and think about what I've done...
