HL Classic Crashes on Save on a Mac

I’m running 1st Edition Pathfinder on HeroLabs V8.9k - #1181, on a 2023 MacBook Pro with an Apple M2 Pro chip. The macOS is Sequoia 15.3.2.

When I click on my pet's "tab," HL crashes.

When I Save, HL crashes.

This makes the software unusable, as I can't save any changes to any character.

I reached out to Lone Wolf Support on 3/25, but had no response. (So much for a "3-day response time." 😥

So, any advice on how to fix this? It worked fine for about a year, then suddenly, not.

OK, any advice other than, "Buy a PC." :ROFLMAO:

not with lone wolf here, but a few things to try until they respond (they're usually pretty good for me; hopefully they did since you posted):

- update mac os (v15.4.1 as of 4.20.25)
- do a save-as with same file but rename to something else; also try saving in different drive / directory altogether
- make sure you're connected to the internet; maybe it's checking license and crashes / closes if it doesn't find it

it happens to me once in a while too, but with the troubleshooting steps above, it usually works out and becomes stable for continued use.

report back here and let us know what you did and if it worked. or if the issue persists.

HL tends to rarely and randomly crash on a PC too.
A little more commonly, it fails to save and gives an error message.

The fail to save, is fixed with a re-save 2 seconds later.

My random crash is maybe once every 3-4 months.
The larger the portfolio the more likely this is to occur.
It is not a common occurrence for me.

Does your HL crash often?
 
Ah. It doesn't fail to save, it crashes on save. It takes more than 2 seconds to reopen and relaunch.

Save As only worked the first time. After that, it also triggered a crash.
Internet connection wasn't the issue, as I was connected the whole time.

I DID mange to solve the problem the brute-force method: I bought a new Windoze laptop. :(
